Scientific research underpins progress across every field. It deepens knowledge, and it is a skill trainees need to develop, given the role that inquiry plays in sharpening analytical and critical thinking and in producing evidence-based solutions grounded in sustained, informed effort. Institute specialists carry out a wide range of research activities, with many studies published in Arabic and international academic journals, alongside strategic research such as “Reasons for the Gender Gap in Science and Mathematics Results in the International TIMSS Study and the Demographic Variables Affecting It in the Sultanate of Oman (A Longitudinal Study)” and “Learning Loss among Students Enrolled in Grade 1 in the Academic Year 2020–2021 in the Sultanate of Oman.”

Launched in 2021, the Scientific Research Seminar is a series of discussion-based sessions held four times a year, in which researchers present published and unpublished studies via a virtual platform. The seminar gives participants a forum to discuss findings and draw out recommendations for improving work across the education sector.
